'First Impressions' is the debut album from The Robert Digweed Collective. This is not merely musicians playing on an album to feature the talents of Robert Digweed, it is an album by Robert Digweed to feature a collection of talented musicians.

This new generation offers some fresh ideas to the Jazz genre; these distinctly recognisable Jazz standards have been removed from their creative origins and arranged within a Jazz-Funk fusion aesthetic. Each arrangement is the product of several years’ work, being improved and developed with every performance. The album explores a range of genres, each track offering moments of surprise whilst maintaining solid grooves.

The 'Collective' refers to the larger studio line-up of selected individuals, expanded from the initial quartet which performs regularly around the UK. It was in 2008, whilst studying at the University of Nottingham, that Robert Digweed first assembled a group of musicians from a variety of backgrounds with a shared passion for the future of jazz. Whilst the line-up has changed over the years, many of its members, past and present, are collected together on this album.

This album features the following musicians: Simon Allen, Rhodri Blackwell, Nick Bowley, Elizabeth Charlesworth, Robert Digweed, Miranda Ford, Paul Jordanous, Simon Marsh, Tom Moore, Rupert Rathbone, Ryan Robinson, Aaron Rosell, Luke Saunders and Damion Sheppard.
